About the Designer
The Made Environment

Our first of two cube assignments was to create a 16” cube solely out of 2x4s and mechanical fasteners. The concept was to be based on the idea of connections. The latch and the hinge were my inspiration. My final iteration was a folding cube. This cube can take many forms. It can be opened completely flat, or accordian folded to minimize space. The two ends latch together to create a rigid corner. Every piece was created out of a 2x4 including the hinged discs making up the corners. The only fasteners used were on one end and they were brad nails to keep the latching mechanism securely in place.
