Christen was born December 23, 1985 into a family of artists and designers in Austin, Texas. At sixteen she began doing free lance artwork and design for local businesses and residences, and at nineteen officially began doing business as Whacked-Out Cricket Design. In 2007, Christen designed posters, fliers and t-shirts as a lead designer for the non-profit organization Invisible Children - Texas Region. Invisible Children raises awareness about the genocide and mass displacement of families in Africa. Her designs were picked up by the Los Angeles team and used for the California region as well. Artwork and furniture designed and built by Christen can be seen in the 2008 Symphony Home featured in Southern Accents and Texas Home and Living Magazine.
